Originally a Virginia native, Dr. Abigail (Abby) Wade’s chiropractic journey began when she was a young athlete. Abby grew up in a competitive house and competed as a cross country runner, a mid/long-distance track athlete, and as a pole vaulter starting at a young age. These sports allowed her to witness varying levels of competition as she participated in state-wide and nation-wide meets, such as Penn Relays. In order to keep her and her sisters in competitive states and for injury prevention, Abby’s father influenced her future career by allowing her to have her first adjustment at 6 years old while tagging along to her older sister’s appointment.
Abby’s affinity toward learning how the human body worked and healed grew with her over the years. She expressed her interest further when she as a born and raised Hokie (Virginia Tech fan) surprised her parents by attending the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va to pursue her undergraduate degree in Engineering Science: Nanomedial Engineering. While at UVA, she also obtained minors in Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry. Dr. Abby realized then that she loved the hands-on side of medicine, but she was craving a more interpersonal practice than her engineering degree would allow her.
This realization is what pushed her to attend New York Chiropractic College where she obtained her Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine. She is also a member of the Phi Chi Omega Honors Society. While attending NYCC, she met her husband, Dr. Alex Wade an Indianapolis native. Dr. Abby and Dr. Alex spent part of their clinical training at the Richard L. Roudebush Veteran’s Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis. They were both honored to serve our veteran population and to provide them with the highest level of care. The time in Indianapolis also helped her develop a love for the state.
Dr. Abby loves the hands-on approach that chiropractic medicine takes and strives to embody the elements of a doctor, a healer, and a teacher. It is her personal mission to ensure all her patients understand how their bodies work and how their day-to-day activities can contribute to that pain or dysfunction. She firmly believes that, through this understanding, she is honored to help her patients realize a pain-free lifestyle and a higher quality of life. After all, you can only be your best self when you feel your best!
When not at work, you can find Dr. Abby and her husband on the trails hiking/ running with their two dogs or possibly at the local climbing gyms. She’d love to meet you and answer your questions. Give Seland Chiropractic Living Well Center a call today!
